Junior Chef of the Year Winners Menu

In June, one of our then Year 5 pupils was crowned 'Junior Chef of the Year' after nine students from schools across Leicestershire battled it out for the title. Her winning dish of teriyaki salmon and Japanese style rice, followed by a pear and blueberry galette for dessert, won the judges over, including Great British Bake Off finalist, Josh Smalley.

Junior Chef of the Year with Mrs Blagburn“I was surprised and shocked but also very proud of myself. I love cooking for my family, and me and my friends always cook together. I also love cooking desserts as I get to eat them at the end!” said our budding Year 5 chef.

As you can imagine, we were excited to sample the menu ourselves on Tuesday. What a tasty treat it was! The teriyaki salmon served with tender stem broccoli, pak choi and Japanese rice went down a storm with both children and staff alike.

“This really is delicious”, “I really like the salmon” and “I want my mum to make this at home” were heard in the hall as the children tucked in. Well done again Annie, and thanks to our caterers LTS for arranging this special lunch.
