Field Trips
We were delighted to go on a couple of exciting field trips this week. First it was the turn of Class 3 and 4 to visit the wonderful Leicester Museum and Art gallery (previously known as the New Walk Museum) to see the Ancient Egyptians exhibition, helping them to bring their current topic to life.
They got the opportunity to be up-close with real Egyptian Mummies, held precious artifacts from the period, learnt more about their life, environment, diet and mummification, plus got to dress up! Their time at the museum also allowed the students to look around the Wild Space and Dinosaurs exhibitions. It was a fantastic day out.
Year 1 and 2 also enjoyed a trip this week. They went into Market Harborough, visiting the Old Grammar School. Building on their topic, this was a great opportunity for the students to see more of what they were learning and see inside the Old Grammar School. The visit included a talk about Robert Smyth and the Old Grammar School by a local expert.
The students also had a tour of the town to spot other local historical landmarks, making many links to Robert Smyth which ended at Robert Smyth Academy, which was built to accommodate the larger demand for education.
On both trips we were really proud of the children who showed brilliant behaviour and a keenness to learn.
